TCU Energy Institute
Jun 04, 2019
I received my B.S degree in Geology from Indiana University in 1973, a Master of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Arizona State University in 1976, and my Ph.D. in Land Resources Management from the University of Wisconsin in 1979. I currently hold the dual position of Professor of Geology and Director of TCU's Energy Institute. I have published numerous articles on geologic and environmental applications of remote sensing and GIS (Geographical Information Systems) and conducted seminars, conferences, and guest lectures in the U.S. and overseas (Egypt, Saudi Arabia, China, and Germany). Over the years, I have been the principal investigator for more than 50 funded research studies on the use of satellite data for resource mapping and a consultant for more than 70 companies. My lab was selected in 1990 as a National Workshop site for Landsat processing by EOSAT. I am also actively involved as a consultant for image processing and GIS projects with companies and governmental agencies. I am a member of the American Society of Photogrammetry & Remote Sensing (ASPRS), the American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG), and The Geological Society of America (GSA) and served as a Distinguished Lecturer for the Society of Petroleum Engineers, lecturing in the U.S. and Overseas (Saudi Arabia, Egypt, United Arab Emerites, and Italy) on the applications of remote sensing to resource mapping and management. Besides enjoying teaching introductory geology each semester and serving as an Associate Dean for Science & Engineering, I have also recently been appointed Director of Operations for the TCU Energy Institute. You can check out the new and exciting opportunities in geology, engineering, environmental science and land management offered through the Institute at our web site... www.energyinstitute.tcu.edu/ |

Cara Ellison is the Community 4-H Club's manager. Cara was an active member of Tarrant County 4-H as a youth and attended Texas A&M on 4-H scholarship and has been involved in the Johnson County 4-H program for 10 years (her daughter is currently attending Texas A&M on 4-H scholarship) . Cara continues to help introduce new kids to the variety of 4-H offerings as she leads this Club and serves on the Johnson County 4-H Booster organization. Community 4-H Club is one of 8 local 4-H clubs within Johnson County. The Club was established and chartered in 2015 specifically for youth in Burleson to help non-traditional 4-H kids benefit from the program in the areas of community service, citizenship, leadership and public speaking. Community 4-H's motto is "Serving the Community/Building Leaders".
Community 4-H now has 35+ members who have projects varying from rabbits, to poultry; entomology to youth entrepreneurship; from public speaking to goats and sheep. Johnson County 4-H has over 370 4-H'ers and is one of the top 4-H counties in the state.
