Welcome to the Burleson Area Mid-Day Rotary Club (“BAM”)!

As we enter 2017, BAM’s focus is on becoming even more impactful in the Burleson Area community.  We will do this by enacting and upholding our public commitments to Club Service and Community Service Goals, while implementing initiatives that align with Rotary International’s Five Avenues of Service, and its six Areas of Focus:
  • Promoting Peace and Conflict Prevention/Resolution

  • Disease Prevention and Treatment

  • Water and Sanitation

  • Maternal and Child Health

  • Basic Education and Literacy

  • Economic and Community Development.

BAM is known for its focus on the New Generation Avenue of Service (aka, Youth Service).  We have started off 2017 with implementation of a partnership with several local organizations to ensure that Burleson area children have food for the summer.  This partnership is with the Tarrant Area Food Bank, Pathway Church and several other local churches, and the Burleson Independent School District.  Children who are hungry, or who come from families where food is intermittent, will have the option of obtaining breakfast and lunch every day during the summer, including on weekends thanks to BAM!

BAM has also started vibrant Rotary Interact Clubs at both of Burleson ISD’s traditional high schools.  These Interact students are already making a difference in the community!  They have presented at a speaker’s series and cultural exchange providing local students an insight into the life of Rotary Youth Exchange students from Germany and Spain.  They have raised money to purchase dictionaries for elementary school students as part of their Literacy initiative, and they are in the process of being trained as Citizen Scientists as part of the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality's Stream Team to conduct water sampling as part of a statewide initiative. Our Interact Students also serve on the Board of the Keep Burleson Beautiful Foundation, as liaisons to the broader Burleson high school community. These activities could not be undertaken without the mentorship of you, our BAM members!

In addition, to our Club Service and Community Service Goals, we are reinvigorating our Vocational speaker series, as we continue to look both inside of our community and outside of our area for inspiration and new partnerships.  I invite you to take a look at our upcoming speakers and events and let us know who you want to hear and how we may assist you!

As we move forward in 2017, the Burleson Area Mid-Day Rotary Club is firmly focused on making real and lasting progress, with over 1.2 million Rotarians throughout the world, to make sustainable change in an increasingly interconnected global society. We hope you will join us!
